World Book Day Competition Entries - 2017

On Thursday 2nd March 2017, TJHS celebrated World Book Day in style.  Prior to the day, the English Department held an Extreme Reading House Competition where they received all types of weird and wonderful photographs of pupils and staff reading in strange places.  On the day, we took part in the DEAR challenge where the whole school Dropped Everything And Read at certain points during the day, no matter where they were.  To top it all off, we had a bit of fun and laughter when some crazy teachers came to school dressed as book characters.  As a treat they got to enjoy a Mad Hatter’s tea party at break time.  Overall, it was very successful and a substantial amount of money was raised for the Library by pupils donating £1 for a non-uniform day.

TAYTO - TJHS pupils featured in in Tayto promotion videos.

A group of year 10 pupils were asked to star in the first ever promotional film for Tayto crisps. They had the privilege of going on the Tayto tour, sampling all flavours of crisps and of course, meeting Mr Tayto during the day.  Vice-Principal Mrs Inns and Senior Teacher Miss Mattison accompanied the pupils from 10HM as part of the day  and were able to observe the full process of crisp making – from the potato to the packet.   The Tandragee Junior High pupils felt like film stars for a day getting the “red carpet testament” and the Tayto promotional film has now gone viral on YouTube/Facebook and can be viewed at the beginning of each Tayto tour.

Sorry - video no longer available as Tayto removed it from YouTube.
